Sr. Records Management Consultant

Contract Term: 1/10/22-12/2/22


Our client is seeking a Senior Records Management Consultant with expertise in electronic records management. The candidate should have experience with managing a records program at an enterprise or department level within a public agency. They should have experience assisting agencies in adopting electronic records management practices using Microsoft 365 records management capabilities. Excellent communication, collaboration, change management, and organization skills will be essential for success. 


Be a part of a project team charged with introducing proper electronic records management concepts, practices, and capabilities to an organization. The project team includes internal client Records Management and IT resources as well as vendor resources for training and MS365 consulting.

Below are some expected deliverables that this role will contribute to in a significant way, often taking a leadership role:

·        Identify, create, and update required policies and procedures related to Records Management and Information Governance

·        Plan and implement communication, change management, roll-out, and training activities

·        Develop and deliver training to department Records Coordinators

·        Provide input to records management training materials that will be delivered to the entire organization

·        Assist staff in adoption of proper electronic records management practices and tools

·        Other items identified as part of implementing the project

Specific Skills Required:

·        Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred

·        A minimum of five years of experience managing records for a public agency at an agency-wide or large department level

·     Must possess a flexible, patient, collaborative and creative approach, and be able and willing to assist outside of their core role to help the team deliver results and overcome ambiguous circumstances and roadblocks

·        Be focused on end-users needs and be energetic and passionate in helping them adopt new ways of working and new tools

·        Be a “doer” with a bias toward action

·       Experience and skilled at writing documentation using MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Documentation will include tracking spreadsheets, training materials, presentations to all levels, and new / updated policies and procedure documents

·      Experienced and comfortable working with MS SharePoint is required. Experience with MS365 Records Management capabilities is highly desired (Retention Policies/Labels, etc.)

·        Desired experience implementing a new records program or implementing improvements to existing records programs at a public agency

  • Understanding of public records policies and procedures and state of Washington RCWs and best practices related to public agency records management
