Senior DSP Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Summary:
In this new role, you will be responsible for signal processing development activities for the Positive Train Control (PTC) Communication System (“the communication system”). Within an Agile/Scrum development environment, design, develop, test, and maintain signal processing algorithms for radio communication networks and the peripheral devices used in these networks. Primarily this involves creating communication algorithms and simulations in MATLAB and Simulink and supporting firmware implementation in MCC radio products and peripherals.


Top 5 Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience in DSP development.
  • Experience with wireless communications systems.
  • Open to national search.
  • Must be available to work onsite 40/hours per week.
  • Familiarity with baseband signal processing building blocks (error correction coding, modulation, CIC, FIR, symbol timing recovery, etc.).

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Over 10 years of experience in DSP development.
  • Expert in wireless communications systems.
  • Ability to work as a team member within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Well versed in communications and signal processing development.
  • Highly experienced in the use of MATLAB and C/C++ for simulation and test.
  • Experience in software defined radio: RF and baseband signal processing and related applications.
  • Familiarity with baseband signal processing building blocks (error correction coding, modulation, CIC, FIR, symbol timing recovery, etc.).
  • Familiarity with non-coherent/differential modulation types: ?/4-DQPSK, ?/8-D8PSK, etc.
  • Familiarity with higher order coherent modulation types: 16-QAM, 64-QAM, 16-APSK, etc
  • Have a strong ability to create and apply methods to analyze and resolve algorithm defects.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Comfortable using basic communication system debugging tools such as Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, etc.
  • Experience with RF power amplifier linearization techniques.
  • Familiarity with MIMO technology.
  • Familiarity with SoC processors.
  • Experience with real time operating systems.
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux development.
